Helpful context
How is the minimum payment calculated?
Each month the simulator uses the greater of your selected percentage of the outstanding balance or the minimum rupee amount, capped at the amount due.
Why can the payoff take so long?
As the balance falls, a percentage-based minimum also falls. More of the smaller payment can be consumed by monthly interest, slowing principal reduction.
Will my bank calculate it exactly this way?
Not necessarily. Issuers can include fees, taxes, instalments and past-due amounts in their formula. Use your statement terms for an exact repayment plan.
